Even though I’ve been reading blogs, I haven’t felt like blogging. Maybe it’s that we’ve been on the road so much this summer. Maybe it’s because we’re in the final stretch before school. Maybe it’s because when I finally get caught up reading ever other blog that I want to read, I don’t have time to write anything. Maybe my brain doesn’t function with a heat index hovering at 115! Either way, I’ve not been very good about updating.
Last week, big stuff happened around here. We got back on Monday from another whirlwind trip through KY and IL. When we got back we got to hang out with friends from Iceland who have just
moved into the area. The amount of laundry that accumulated over that time made me feel like once again I was climbing Mt. Washmore with no end in sight. Things were busy.
Still, in the middle of all that, my birthday was Tuesday. Ray loaded all three girls up into his truck and went off shopping. I figured out that they were fixing a birthday dinner. I left to run a couple of errands by myself. I got back home and was directed to wait in my bedroom and by the way be ready by 4…Kelly was picking me up.
We left Ray with 7 kids and dinner to make and
went out to have coffee and chat. We had a note to return at 6 p.m. We had so much fun solving all the world’s problems over coffee at Barnes and Noble. I think we really could rule the world or at least build huts in Uganda.
When we got home, I walked into a house decorated for a luau. There was fried rice, Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, Pad Kee Mau. The girls were making Hawaiian punch when we walked in.
Can I tell you that I have the best husband ever! How many guys do you know that would make dinner with 7 little girls (two of them are two)
running under your feet? He did every last bit, from roasting the pork to chopping 30 basil leaves. It was so good!
Thank you Ray. I love you. It was the very best birthday ever! How are you ever going to top it?
